Shoulder Press

RULES

  1. The Competitor must pick up the bar from the floor themselves. Bar must be below chin on downward motion with the point of the chin fully visible above the bar. The elbows must be fully extended on the upward motion.
  2. The butt and mid back of the competitor must remain in contact with the seat at all times — excessive arching of the back will deem the repetition invalid.
  3. Competitors using the “short arm jab” or “flick” technique should understand that unless the judge can see the elbows fully extending the repetitions will not be counted.
  4. If you are resting during the shoulder press you may rest the bar on your hips or on the floor.
  5. The standard equipment is a BodyPump bar in addition to the category’s weight. For example, if your category’s shoulder press is 20kg, your shoulder press will be 20kg plus the BodyPump bar. The BodyPump weighs approximately 1kg.
