The Rules

  1. A spotter will pass the bar to the competitor once they lay on the bench. When the competitor says ‘MY BAR’ the spotter will let go.
  2. At the bottom of the repetition the bar must touch the chest.
  3. At the top of the repetition the elbows must be fully extended.
  4. Two taped markers may be placed 5 inches from the collar of the Olympic Bar. The hands must be placed inside these markers.
  5. Should the competitor wish to rest at any point a spotter will take the bar. Use the words ‘TAKE’ for the spotter to do this.
  6. A spotter will take the weight once the reps have been completed.
  7. Please avoid excessive arching of the back.
  8. The feet may be placed on the floor or the bench.
